Korean Greetings Flashcards — Every Way to Say Hello (and Goodbye)

안녕하세요 is just the start. Korean greetings shift depending on who you're talking to, whether they're leaving or staying, and how well you know them.

Korean Greetings

In Korean, the greeting you use depends on three things: the relationship, the formality level, and whether the other person is coming or going.

That sounds complicated. It isn't. These 10 cards cover the full picture.

Hello
Nice to meet you
I'm counting on you
Goodbye (you're leaving)
Goodbye (they're leaving)

The goodbye distinction is worth learning early. Korean has two versions: one for when you're the one leaving (안녕히 계세요 — "please stay well") and one for when they're leaving (안녕히 가세요 — "please go well"). Using the right one immediately sounds natural.
